Afghanistan has the second largest group of migrants who have reached western shores and borders. In the past few months more than 100,000 Afghans left their country, majority of whom were youths.
Socio-economic problems, high unemployment rate along with unstable security in the country have been the root causes of these immigrations. Although from humanitarian perspective, for some it might be a good news that west is revisiting its immigration policies, the resulting brain drain and educated and skilled workforce/human capital leaving the country is a disaster for the future of Afghanistan.
In order to ensure the majority of our youths are aware of how desperately Afghanistan needs them at this critical stage, we the #AfghanYouth, started #AfghanistanNeedsYou social media campaign. Through this campaign, we will share the stories of those brave young Afghans who might/might not have visited the west, might have had the chance to stay there BUT returned in order to contribute to their country and secure a prosperous future for themselves and their families, as well as their people. Everyday people in Afghanistan struggle but they don't give up, they still work towards a sustainable future. This is what we all should strive for.
At this stage of campaign, we need Afghans to capture a picture of themselves holding the #AfghanistanNeedsYou message printed on an A4 paper (image available on the FB page) with us, along with their short message they want us to deliver to the Afghan youths in order to inspire and motivate those who choose escape as a solution, in maximum 50 words.
It is YOU, the youth, whom Afghanistan needs.
